PREMIUM ITEMSThe following is a list of items that carry a premium charge at the point of disposal because they are classified as hazardous either to the environment, ecology or human beings. All prices shown exclude VAT. Prices shown were valid at time of publication (02 April 2007). Items containing CFC’s i.e.: Fridge, freezer, fridge/freezer, water cooler, Ice maker, chiller cabinet etc. Currently the charge per CFC item is £50 Flourescent tubing: Basically these work out to be £1 Car batteries: Depending on size they range from £5 to £25 each Tyres: Again depending on size and whether or not they are attached to the wheel. For instance, a standard car tyre without the wheel would be £3.50, with the wheel it would be £5. 4x4’s are £5 and £7, vans £10 & £15, lorries £15 & £25 and a tractor tyre would cost £30 & £50! Paint and oil. These are classed as hazardous material and requires special disposal. Not all waste sites are equipped to deal with this and therefore a specialist waste site is used. This, of course, puts paint disposal at a very high price, depending on quantity. Televisions: Currently these are charged at £11 for a small portable up to £30 for a very large LCD set. Computer keyboard: Current rate is £3 per keyboard. Computer mouse: Again the current price for this is £3 per mouse Heavy metals such as lead, zinc etc also carry a premium Anything containing Asbestos such as brake linings etc we cannot touch as we have not got the licence to deal with this type of material. However, be prepared to pay a high price for its removal and disposal. PLEASE NOTE: This list is by no means exhaustive and ALL waste carriers have to adhere to the European Waste Catalogue (EWC).
